Guarantee
This Guarantee explains what we cover on the servicing and repairs we carry out, and on equipment and parts we supply. It forms part of our Terms and Conditions. Words defined in the Terms and Conditions have the same meaning here. Please read the two together. This Guarantee covers what is and is not guaranteed. The company that gives the guarantee is the company named on your invoice, Independent Inspections Ltd (Isle of Man) or Independent Inspections (UK) Ltd. This guarantee is in addition to your legal rights and it doesn’t affect those rights.
1. Autoclaves and compressors
New autoclaves and compressors are covered from the date of delivery for a period of time determined by the manufacturer’s guarantee, but for a minimum term of 12 months. Used autoclaves are guaranteed by us for six months from the date of delivery. If a component of an autoclave or compressor becomes defective during normal use and if that defect is due to a manufacturing flaw, we will repair or replace that component at our discretion at no charge. A repaired or replaced component continues to have the benefit of the unexpired part of the guarantee. If a fault is not covered by this guarantee, our normal repair fees would apply. We may pause guarantee work if your account is overdue, until it is up to date.
2. Manufacturers’ guarantees
For new autoclaves and compressors we have supplied, we honour the manufacturer’s guarantee. Manufacturers’ guarantees generally do not include work on site but we would provide this at no charge for equipment we have supplied. This Guarantee is the document that sets out that cover. If we get called out for anything not covered by the guarantee, our normal repair fees would apply. Manufacturers’ guarantees have their own conditions. Keep to those conditions, or the manufacturer’s guarantee may be invalidated.
3. Repairs, servicing and spare parts
We guarantee our repair work for six months from the date of the repair. If the fault we repaired reappears and you think the repair was not carried out properly, tell us within 7 days of noticing the problem and we will inspect it. If we determine that the repair wasn’t carried out properly, we will carry out a further repair at no charge. If the fault is not related to our previous repair, or if extra parts or labour are required you will be charged at our normal rate.
Service contracts include breakdown cover similar to this guarantee. One off servicing doesn’t include breakdown cover but if you think that a fault which arises shortly after we have carried out a service is due to the servicing not being carried out properly, tell us within 7 days of noticing the problem and we will inspect it. If we determine that the fault is due to the servicing not being carried out properly, we will carry out a repair at no charge. If the fault is not related to our servicing, or if extra parts or labour are required you will be charged at our normal rate.
Parts we supply are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for six months from the date of supply, but only if we fitted the part. If a part we fitted is defective, we will replace it at no charge. Replaced parts become ours.
4. Guarantee terms
This guarantee does not cover:
faults unrelated to the repair after a repair has been carried out
normal wear and tear, meaning deterioration through use where, in our reasonable opinion, there is no evidence of a manufacturing defect. Items subject to wear and tear include all moving parts
the replacement of door seals or filters, which have a limited life and are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for a limited period or usage only
works not carried out by us or by anyone we have not authorised. This may invalidate the remaining term of your guarantee
misuse including use that does not follow the manufacturer’s instructions, accident, careless handling, dropping or damage caused by anything other than normal use
any unlawful or negligent act or omission
modifications outside the scope of normal servicing or repairs
damage, degradation or leakage to any part caused by handpiece oil, ultrasonic cleaning solution, saline solution, photographic fixer, developer or any other fluid other than reverse osmosis, distilled, purified or de-ionised water. Also, scale from water and foreign objects such as orthodontic wire, cotton wool, paper, instruments or debris from instruments that was not properly cleaned before autoclaving
“secondary” damage, meaning damage that results directly from earlier damage or from a defect that wasn’t dealt with
overheating of a compressor caused by an air leak downstream of the compressor, or by leaving the air receiver drain open
alleged defects that are not a direct result of a manufacturing defect, or that do not affect the quality or function of the autoclave or compressor, such as noises or vibrations that are characteristic of the machine, gaps within the manufacturer’s permitted tolerances, and minor cosmetic marks
the replacement of lost, defective or damaged memory cards
autoclave door, lid or cassette seal leaks
call-outs where on attendance there is no apparent fault
5. Moving equipment, transfers and other repairs
Moving equipment. If equipment we supplied is moved from the place we supplied it to, and a repair is then needed, we will attend at the new location by arrangement. A re-commissioning or repair fee may apply. The move does not, by itself, end the guarantee. Damage caused by the move is still outside the guarantee where this Guarantee already excludes accidental damage, careless handling or a similar cause.
Transferring the guarantee. The guarantee can be transferred to a new owner by arrangement with us. It cannot be transferred to a different machine.
Repairs by others. We will not reimburse repairs carried out by anyone we have not authorised, whatever the reason for the repair.
6. Protecting your guarantee
We recommend that you:
have a new autoclave or new compressor serviced in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations, and do not miss scheduled servicing
report any faults to us as soon as they occur, and have them put right within the guarantee period
If scheduled servicing of new equipment is missed, the manufacturer’s guarantee is invalidated. Misuse and work by others can also take a fault outside the guarantee. The list in section 4 (Guarantee terms) is what decides a claim.
7. Making a claim
Contact us as soon as you notice a fault, by email at office@iiltd.im or by phone on 020 8421 3366.
Please give us:
the type of equipment and its serial number
the date you bought it, or the date of the repair
the address where it is
the name, position and phone number of the person making the claim
a description of the fault
We carry out guarantee work between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays, at times we agree with you. We aim to attend within three working days, not counting weekends and bank holidays. We can’t promise how long a repair will take to finish, because some repairs may depend on parts we have to source from the manufacturer.
8. Our liability
Our Terms and Conditions explain the limits of our liability. In particular, we are not liable for loss of profit, downtime or other indirect losses, or for damage to your property caused by water, steam or air leaking from equipment we have supplied, repaired or serviced. For services or repairs, our total liability is limited to the price you paid. Nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
